Loren Johnson- Chirs's grandfather is like him in the fact that they both were proud and stubborn and dreamy, a woodsman, a self-taugth musician a writer of poetry. They also relate in the fact that the both care about and for animals. Chris was extremly attached to his dog Buck and loved him, took care, of him and he was sorta of his best friend. Loren had a similar love for animals and wildlife: for instance when time when he was driving home he accidently killed a mother deer with his truck, making an orphan of its fawn. Loren took it home and raised it just like one of his own kids.

Carnie McCandless- Chris and his sister are alike in few ways but mostly different. They are alike in the fact that they both thought their parents worked to much, but Carnie contradicted that factor when she got older by working up to fourteen hour days to become a millionare. They were both gifted at playing instruments: he played the guitar, piano, and french horn. They also looked alike and were mistake as twins.

Jon Krakauer- The author of the book relates to Chris in many ways, such as being into the wild and trying to find peace within it. Jon Kraukauer went Alaska and climbed the Devils Thumb; this even relates him to Chris because he like Chris wanted to go out and be free and try to experience something different. They wanted to seek adventure, but the big difference between Chris and Krakauer is that Krakauer was prepared that he knew he could die out there.Chris was not prepared for his journey, didn't let anyone know where he would be, and he made irresponsible decisions that lead to his downfall.
